CIBI EXHIBITION No3 USUHARI GLASS

"The incredible lightness of Usuhari Glass"
- Ultra-thin elegance, beer drinking strength, and quietly stylish -

Exhibition Period: 11 - 20 March 2010

Handblown and finished by master craftsmen in the old Sumida district of downtown Tokyo. Usuhari glass combined ultra-thin elegance with the strength required for regular use.
The thinness of Usuhari glass is a tribute to the skill of its makers, with each glass blown and handmade by one of just four master craftsmen with the sensibility to make this ultra-fine glass.
It is this elegant simplicity of Japanese craftsmanship that appeals to the CIBI head, hands & heart, we exhibit an extensive range of Usuhari glass and eco-glass during the exhibition period.

This Japanese textile form has a rich and textured history that weaves together art and commercial uses, yet its versatility and affordability ensure that it continues to evolve in exciting new ways in Japan today.
Please join us for a fresh slice of CIBI life and culture at our opening night, or drop in at your leisure to see the exhibition.

Everyday Art - Versatile & Practical

Tenugui are used for a multitude of purposes, from hand towel to headwear, bandage to business card, place mat to wall hanging. As every tenurui is handmade, each is unique. Their individual appeal grows with repeated use and washing, as the cloth softens and the dyes take on a well used patina natural qualities which we love here at CIBI.
