X'mas at CIBI 2011 Thu.1.12.11 6-8pm
X'mas shopping night & party
Come & celebrate the CIBI season with us.
Dear CIBI friends
For one night only – X'mas shopping at CIBI
At CIBI we’ve always appreciated the finer things in life, one day at a time. So it comes as no surprise that up until now we didn’t make a big deal out of Christmas. Then Uta arrived, and slowly but surely things have changed. Christmas is coming, and we want him to enjoy it. Which got us to thinking – with ‘Head, Hands, Heart,’ where do we start? How to capture that CIBI sparkle and delight in a special season?
In the spirit of Christmas and a show of appreciation, we put Christmas through the CIBI filter to create a relaxed ‘one night only’ of Christmas shopping for our regular customers. You’re invited to join us for food and drinks, and to browse the selection of CIBI goodies in our store.
We believe the CIBI philosophy of ‘Head, Hands, Heart’ naturally lends itself to a selection of goods that are thoughtful, beautiful, practical, and a joy to use everyday. Qualities that make great gifts for friends and family – and especially for yourself and partners!
For Christmas we’ve expanded our selection and will wrap up some special gift giveaways of our own.
It promises to relaxed, fun and in the CIBI Christmas spirit. We look forward to seeing you on December 1st.

We take great pleasure in inviting you to our next exhibition, the simply and wonderfully titled “Books for Life.” This exhibition is a collaboration with our good friends Dan and Justine at Perimeter Books, the bookstore and art space in Thornbury, Melbourne.
For Perimeter Books x CIBI presents “Books for Life,” we are curating a showcase of the finest Japanese art, photography, design, craft and architecture books. A topic that you’ll agree is very close to our heart.
This collaboration is a natural extension of our “Head, Hands, Heart” approach to life at CIBI, as the approach of our friends at Perimeter Books reads like an extension of our embrace of design for the book world!
“Whether a visual reference, a simple compendium of images and ideas, or a functional design object on its own terms, the printed publication has the scope to become something to collect and cherish – a vessel for inspiration that we carry with us through life.”
Beautiful books to be used and treasured. Inspired reading that perfectly complements a good coffee, and expands our understanding and appreciation of the world we live in.

We hope you will like these and enjoy them for your everyday pleasure*
LAUNCH: 10TH NOVEMBER 2010, WED NIGHT 6PM - 8PM
Washi: traditional craftsmanship with a modern twist
The making of washi (traditional Japanese paper) is a time-honoured craft that weaves together a long history, culture and expertise that can be traced back over 1000 years. Long used for art, calligraphy, origami, and screens in sliding doors, the intrinsic character of washi, its natural softness, warmth and subtleness, make it an especially appealing addition to contemporary daily life.
The SIWA name gives an insight into its innovative twist on an ancient craft: 紙和 reverses the characters in the kanji for washi, and also means “crinkle’ in Japanese.
Just like fine leather goods, each of these washi bags are lovingly crafted. They appeal to CIBI’s “head, hands, heart” philosophy of a smart stylish product, that’s beautiful to the eye and touch, and practical enough to be used everyday. What’s not to like about the ultimate unrippable paper bag!
